The Brockwood Management Company Limited took its name from a badgers sett discovered during the excavations of the development in 1994. After a detailed consultation with the local authority and a local badger group, it was agreed that although the sett had been dormant for some time, Fairclough Homes (the developer) would construct an artificial sett and plant a protective hawthorn hedge around the site to encourage the return of the badgers. They are connected via a pumping station located towards the side of no 14. This pumping station is (from October 2016) operated and maintained by Thames Water. Here is where all the waste runs into a chamber before being pumped to the mains. All surface water drains into eight soakaways three situated in the road and a further one positioned on the communal lawn all of which are the responsibility of the management company. The remaining four are situated in the rear gardens of houses 5, 8, 14, 15 and each property is jointly liable for the drain and soakaway into which their surface water flows. They are not the responsibility of Thames Water. If the pumping station telemetry alarm is triggered, a blockage has been caused by flushed wipes and nappies.
